Meet Grace Notes

Hi and welcome!

We're Grace Notes, a student-led A Cappella group at Emory & Henry College!

Grace Notes is an ensemble that started in Spring 2017 when a group of eight students gathered to make music together... using only their voices.

A year later, in the Spring of 2018, a few of those students, along with another, established Grace Notes. These founding members held auditions for other students of Emory & Henry College to join the ensemble. This caused the original group to grow from eight to twelve members, which now consists of six women and six men.

They worked for several weeks on a few pieces of music that were debuted at the Spring concert, alongside the Emory & Henry Concert and Chamber choirs.

In April 2018, the members were invited to perform at Emory & Henry's "Ampersand Day" by Ms. Monica Hoel (Director of Alumni Affairs, Alumni, and Advancement). Grace Notes was excited to perform in front of the President of the College, the College Provost, members of the Board of Trustees, and other distinguished guests.

In the Fall of 2018, Grace Notes went on tour with the Emory & Henry Concert and Chamber choirs through the Southwest Virginia region.

The ensemble also performed at Christmas at Emory and the Community Christmas Pageant at the Barter Theatre, both of which received rave reviews.

December 2018 was a huge step for the group as they held their first-ever solo concert in the Emory & Henry United Methodist Church for both attendees and live-stream viewers.

In the future, we hope to continue making music for generations to come, passing down the ensemble from class to class.

We'll be right Bach!
