Meet Jonathan Griffin | Grace Notes Member Spotlight - Fall 2019 | Emory, VA

Jonathan Griffin is a senior at Emory & Henry, from Hillsville, VA.

He is a music education major who aspires to be a public school music teacher. One day, however, he wants to travel to Asia to teach music and bring Asian music traditions back to the United States.

Jonathan has been in band since 2009 when he was in middle school, and he's been in choir since his freshman year of high school. Throughout his music career, Jonathan has been selected to participate in and did participate in All-District Symphonic Band, Senior High All-District Choir, and All-Virginia Choir. He has also participated in choirs at Emory & Henry since his arrival at the university.

Now, in addition to directing to Grace Notes, he is involved with the Emory & Henry Marching Band, Emory & Henry Concert Band, Emory & Henry Chamber Choir, the State Street United Methodist Church Sunday Worship Choir, and the State Street United Methodist Church Handbell Choir.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys binge-watching Netflix TV shows, playing video games, and singing like a rockstar in his car with his best friends!

Fun Fact: Jonathan can't remember what he had for lunch yesterday, but he can reference Spongebob episodes he hasn't seen in years.

Jonathan loves this group and is bittersweet about passing the director's torch, but he is very excited and cannot wait to see what becomes of this brilliant group of humans!

He will be singing Baritone with us again this semester.

Welcome back to Grace Notes, Jonathan, and thank you for all you do!

We'll be right Bach,

Grace Notes
